This modernist take on a mountain chalet was designed by Herbert Bayer, an eminent member of the Bauhaus art, design and architecture movement.  Bayer, at the invitation of industrialist Walter Paepcke, moved to Aspen to design the Aspen Institute, the Aspen Meadows and a handful of residential properties.
