Historic West End

About

Most of the original homes in Aspen were located in the West End, west of downtown and north of Main Street. Its proximity to the Aspen Music Festival Tent, Harris Hall, the campus of the Aspen Institute, the Aspen Center for Physics and Aspen Meadows is a major draw for music lovers and for those with intellectual interests. The West End features magnificent gardens and mature tree-lined streets where you frequently see residents walking their dog, jogging or biking.

Architecturally speaking, the West End is not old any more. Many of the original Victorian homes have been restored and expanded. And many of the older dwellings have been replaced with large contemporary houses. It is now an interesting blend of luxury house designs and a mix of primary and second-home owners.

The neighborhood is replete with splendid multi-million dollar properties but it has retained a tranquil, elegant and friendly character. All the action in downtown Aspen is just a pleasant short stroll away. Many consider the West End to be in-town living, but in a historic, quieter neighborhood.
