Father’s Day weekend in downtown Aspen is expected to bring more than 5,000 international guests to experience the exclusive 35th anniversary of Food and Wine Classic. With numbers tightly controlled, anyone lucky enough to purchase a pass will experience the premier main events featuring celebrity chefs and savory dishes. Centered around the famed Grand Tasting Pavilion, the festival culminates with five consumer Grand Tastings and three Private Grand Tastings where food and wine enthusiasts enjoy samples of award-winning wines and dishes.
The event brings together more than 70 celebrity chefs and wine experts to give guests a truly unique experience in the coveted Roaring Fork Valley. Featured amongst the experts will be celebrities such as internationally recognized French chef Jacques Pépin (2), appearing for the 29th time at the Classic. Guests can also expect to see Season 13 winner of Top Chef Jeremy Ford hosting a demonstration Sunday in the cooking tent (see schedule here: 3).
That’s okay-there are plenty of unique, luxurious experiences the valley has to offer to make your weekend memorable. Igniting the festivities Thursday will be the annual Cochon Heritage Fire at Base Village in Snowmass. With a showcase of over 50 notable chefs, wineries, farms and brews, the event features 3,500 pounds of heritage breed animals roasted over firewood for guests to enjoy. If you rise early Friday morning, you can even participate in the annual Food & Wine Classic 5k charity race and run alongside celebrity chefs. Experience the season finale of the nation-wide culinary tour Cochon 555 (4) Saturday evening at the Grand Ballroom of the Viceroy Snowmass, watching ten chefs battle it out in a showdown featuring all things pork. Finish your weekend off relaxing at Aspen Mountain in the open-air Bluegrass Sundays (5) event basking in the sun.
